Nothing builds confidence like learning something new!

Mt. Gilead has been offering archery as one of our staple summer camp activities since 1953! We still use traditional style bows and arrows with qualified instructors to teach campers everything from bow & arrow safety to shooting techniques so campers return home feeling confident in their abilities.

Some campers may start at a simple 15-yard shooting range and some begin at 20. Shooting ranges increase with their skill level progression. Highly trained instructors emphasize safety and fun simultaneously, and there is great confidence derived from a camper hitting their first bull’s eye after quality one-on-one teaching from staff.

As another traditional summer camp staple, Mt. Gilead remains one of the few remaining girl’s camps to offer riflery as an activity. When choosing riflery as an activity, campers are first taught the basics of marksmanship. These include safety, trigger pull, sighting, and positions. Our certified instructors teach on NRA guidelines and offer chances for skill advancement. Many campers bring home one of their favorite keepsakes… their first bull’s eye target! All rifles at Mt. Gilead Camp are up-to-date .22 caliber youth-sized rifles, designed specifically to be one of the lowest velocity and safest rifles on the market that are specifically designed for young campers.
