At Mt. Gilead, we believe that leadership skills are refined through life-changing experiences. Strategically positioned between our CILT 1 and CILT 2 years at summer camp is our annual winter LDT (Leadership Development Trip). We know that serving those less fortunate than ourselves is not only the lifestyle modeled by Christ, but crucial in a young person’s developing walk with the Lord.
Our trip’s goal is to expose our oldest campers to global needs and opportunities while challenging them to live as Christ has called them at home and abroad. Campers return from our international LDTs with a bigger appreciation for what they have, and a better understanding of how they can be used by God starting now. In a time of life when campers are preparing to leave for College, that experience and knowledge can be life-changing. An LDT is a week without texting on cell phones, watching tv or posting to social media; it’s a time for reflection and growth.
This year’s trip will travel to Rivas. Nicaragua in Central America. The trip will consist of a small two-day all-girls camp for underprivileged children living in poverty, a service project and a day of tourism around southern Nicaragua.
If you are an Alumni or partner church and would to inquire about joining us for this mission trip, please contact Adam via the contact form on this website.
Donate towards a team member’s trip cost online, or just donate towards the trip’s general fund so we can bring more school supplies for the children in Nicaragua!
