A Typical Day in the Life of a Mt. Gilead Camper

7:30 Rise and Shine!
8:00 Morning Watch (personal devotions)
8:30 Breakfast
9:15 Flag raising
9:30 1st Activity
10:30 2nd Activity
11:30 3rd Activity
12:30 Cabin Capers (Clean those cabins 'til they sparkle!)
1:00 Lunch
2:00 Rest hour (take a nap, write home, read a book)
3:00 Free time (go swimming, paddleboat, visit the Tuck Shop or hang out!)
4:00 4th Activity
5:00 Cabin Time(spend some quality time with your counselor and cabinmates)
6:00 Dinner
7:30 Evening Activity (Play something fun with your division or the whole camp)
8:45 Songfest and campfire
9:30 Devotions
9:45 Lights out!


Daily Activities

While at Mt. Gilead, campers choose three activities in which to participate every day (in addition to other activities that are prepared for them). (Campers enrolled in Adventure X5, Searcher Equestrian Quest, Equestrian Quest I, Equestrian Quest II, CILT, and Paddling Possibilities will not select daily activities.) A typical week’s choices include, but are not limited to, the following:

Adventurer Antics This activity changes every day! It’s a great variety of fun for the Adventurer.
Air Riflery* Cock your gun, take aim, and pull the trigger of your BB rifle.
Archery* Aim at the target, pull back the string of the bow, and let your arrow make its mark!
Bible Exploration* Every camper participates in this interactive, creative Cabin Bible study time.
Campcraft Learn new outdoor skills or master others tying knots, learning to using a compass, building a fire
Canoeing* Gunnels? Feathering? Learn about it all in canoeing class. Then put your skills to the test Friday with a day trip down the Delaware River!
Ceramics* Glaze, paint, fire and show off your masterpiece!
Crafts Art projects, gimp. Make one for yourself and one for a friend!
Drama Learn new drama techniques and present a skit Friday night
Grandma’s Attic Country style crafts that you would find in Grandma’s house.
Hiking Explore all there is to see at Mt. Gilead
Horsemanship* Learn to ride or improve your skills. Enjoy a trail ride.
Music/Songwriting Learn a camp instrument and write a song to teach the rest of camp!
Nature Trees, birds, bugs, flowers…so much creation to see and learn about!
Naturecraft Create a craft masterpiece using items from nature.
Outdoor Cooking Learn to cook s’mores, dessert, dinner or breakfast over an open fire!
Sign Language* Learn to sign a camp song and present it on Friday night.
Swimming* Beginner to Advanced there is a swim class just for you!
Riflery* Earn NRA rank awards on our .22 caliber target rifle range.
Wet and Wild Anything and everything having to do with water and fun!
Whether Pigs Have Wings This activity changes everyday just to satisfy the curious Searcher.

*Staff teaching these activities have certification in this area.
