Mt. Gilead 2003:
Jubilee!
"They will celebrate your abundant goodness and joyfully sing of your righteousness."
Psalm 145:7
Welome to Mt. Gilead 2003! This year is our 50th Anniversary, which we celebrated with a special Open House on July 12. We're hard at work and play at camp this summer, learning all about our Jubilee, Jesus Christ!
* Note: These pages were originally on my (the Webmaster's) own personal website, so you'll find that a lot of them center around my own activities at camp, rather than having a broader focus--unfortunately. However they do feature many of the people and activities at camp this past summer, and so I have included them here anyway. *Click on the blue button to see updates and pictures from that week.

Precamp Week
(June 17 - June 28)
Working, playing, training, and studying God's Word are all parts of getting ready for the campers to arrive on the 29th. I'm not sure what the toad-kissing is in preparation for, but it sure was funny...

Week One: "Beach Fest"
(June 29 - July 5)
Beach fun with a full camp! We finished the week with Beach Olympics Friday night, including a contest of the "Punchy Stork" dive. The Searcher Division (5-6 grades) had a full-blown Hawaiian Luau Thursday night, including Hawaiian food, Coconut Games with water balloons, hula dancing, and an after-campfire stay-up-late showing of 'Lilo & Stitch.' AloHA!

Week Two: "Making Dreams A Reality"
(July 6 - July 12)
We can't believe Week Two is already gone! We spent it well on our way to making our dreams into realities: Monday night held a Mt. Gilead version of 'American Idol:' "Gilead Stars!," we went on cabin cookouts Tuesday night, took a hike on Wednesday, and the Searchers directed their counselors in Choose Your Own Adventure skits on Thursday. We had a few rainy days but finished the week with a bang (see below)!

C.I.L.T. Graduation '03/ 50th Anniversary Open House
(July 11, 12)
On Friday night (July 11), three campers finished C. I. L. T., our two-year long Campers In Leadership Training Program, in a special graduation ceremony. Their friends and family joined us for this special evening. At the end, we had three brand new staff members! (No pictures yet--they're coming!)
On Saturday we held our 50th Anniversary Open House. Old and new staff and campers from far and wide came to spend the day revisiting and reuniting. Happy Birthday, Mt. Gilead!

Week Three: "Under The Big Top"
(July 13 - July 19)
We're under the Big Top all week this week! We've got all kinds of circus fun ahead, with lots of animal games and a Capture The Clown spoof of Capture The Flag planned.

Week Four: "Great Expectations"
(July 20 - July 26)
Wow, time flies when you're having fun. Week FOUR already! We've got all kinds of great expectations for this week, complete with lots of tie dye, Capture The Flag, and some Mystery Messy Game planned for later on in the week. Sounds good to me. J And I have a cabin this week!

Week Five: "Hillbilly Jamboree"
(July 27 - August 2)
It's pickups, barn ho-downs, lots of straw and lots of flannel around here this week! We're thinking about all things "hick" (some of us find this far easier than others). Yee-haw!
