Tyffany, Pam, and Mallory graduated from C. I. L. T. on July 11, moving from campers to staff that night. Last summer each girl chose a woman who had played a special part in her spiritual growth and asked that mentor to be her "charge." Their charges encouraged and supported the girls through their C. I. L. T. journies. On Friday night each charge shared with her C. I. L. T. an encouragement and a challenge to hold to as that girl entered staffhood. Tyff, Pam, and Mallory enter a long legacy of C. I. L. T. graduates and lovers of camp--and God.

The ceremony ends with a symbolic single candle flame passed from charge to C. I. L. T.
Staff members at last, bird names and all! Tyffany chose the name "Lexie," Pam became "Zana," and Mallory decided to use her middle name, "Blaze."
50th Anniversary Open House
(Saturday, July 12)
What a fun day! "Gileadites" from as far as California and Florida returned to camp for a day of food, fun, and memories. We brought out the old photo albums, auctioned off the old cabin name-signs (they were replaced with new ones a few years ago), and sold pieces of our old cabins (renovated in '01 and '02) that were autographed by 50 years' worth of Gilead campers. The day ended with an all-camp Songfest!

The festivities begin! "Gileadites" began to arrive before 10 AM.

We had lunch off the grill in the Post Pavilion, to the music of the group X-alt. Yum!

The pool and sand volleyball court were put to good use all day.

Staff members' children (lovingly called "Staff Brats" :o) are plentiful during the summer. Here friends Karleigh Y. and Taylor B. proudly show off their matching 50th Anniversary T-shirts.
